Porsche's Electric Macan Turbo Looks Ordinary but Drives Fast
A TechCrunch reviewer says the electric SUV blends into traffic yet accelerates like a sports car.

Porsche's electric Macan Turbo does not turn heads on the street. TechCrunch's reviewer drove the 2026 model for a week, taking kids and groceries around town, and said no other drivers stared and no car fans stopped to ask questions. The grey paint, rounded roofline and crossover shape made it blend in.
That plain look raises a question about what a sports car should be. Does it need to stand out, or look like the lighter, leaner gas-powered Macan? The reviewer says that once you drive it, the questions fade, because the speed is hard to ignore. The reviewer's passengers agreed. The kids who rode along to soccer practice gave the strong acceleration high marks.
On twisty roads the car comes alive. It has four-wheel steering, which costs $2,150 extra. In Sport Plus mode the car lowers itself on its air suspension.
Here are the main numbers. The car puts out 630 horsepower and carries a 100-kilowatt-hour battery, and it is a crossover with two rows of seats. The price starts at $112,700. The car the reviewer drove cost $149,610 with destination fees, because of many options. The options alone, TechCrunch notes, could pay for a nicely equipped Chevy Bolt.
Not every option seemed worth the money. The reviewer would skip the passenger display, which costs $1,710. The kids liked that it could play YouTube videos, but they cannot ride in the front seat. The reviewer's wife pointed out that their washing machine can play YouTube videos too. The reviewer would also skip extras such as the glowing Porsche name on the seatbacks and the lights that project the name onto the ground.
Some friends joked that an electric car cannot have a turbo. That is true, the reviewer said, but car names have long drifted away from what is under the hood.
The Macan Turbo also charges quickly. On a 350-kilowatt charger it takes exactly 20 minutes to go from 19% to 80%.
