Porsche has revealed a concept car called Mission S, which shows the direction of its future designs. The sleek car has its engine in the middle and previews a new flagship model for the German sports car maker, which is controlled by Volkswagen.
Porsche says Mission S is "a first glimpse of the brand's evolved design identity." It also stands for what the company calls a "super sports car platform" that would sit above the iconic 911. The car is clearly a Porsche, but it looks more aggressive than the current models. It has new vents on the hood, a scoop on the roof and a rear spoiler that flows into the back panels.
Porsche Chairman Michael Leiters said every Porsche must be recognizable at a glance. In his words, the Mission S offers a look at the ideas and design details that will define the brand in the years ahead.
Car makers often build concept vehicles to see how much customers like an idea, to show off future technology and to signal where a brand is heading. Porsche did not share prices or performance details for future models. For comparison, the current 911 starts at about $135,500 for an entry-level Carrera and goes to more than $203,000 for a Carrera 4 GTS convertible.
The concept is part of a turnaround plan the company announced on October 7 at its capital markets day. The plan, called "Sportwagenschmiede '35," focuses on high-end sports cars and luxury SUVs. Porsche wants to earn more profit from higher-priced products, even if it sells fewer vehicles.
The company needs a boost. Its operating margin, a measure of how much profit it makes from its business, was only 1.1% last year, compared with 14.1% in 2024. Porsche pointed to higher costs, U.S. tariffs and falling sales in China. It set a long-term goal of a 15% margin for the group. It also aims to break even at 200,000 vehicles a year or fewer, compared with the 279,449 it sold in 2025.
